Oligotrophic-mesotrophic lake, upland heathland and mire. Natural upland lake, 300 m above sea level.

The reserve consists of two lakes lying in glacial hollows separated by a narrow neck of land.

An old railway line surrounded by woodland and a 20 acre lake.
