National Marine Week Showcase - Meet Imogen

For this year's National Marine Week, we are celebrating the work of our young marine conservationists at The Wildlife Trust of South & West Wales!

Meet Imogen

Imogen is one of our youngest and most dedicated #WILDFundraisers who has been working hard over the last few years to raise money for Skomer Island. For National Marine Week, we asked Imogen about her fundraiser, her journey into marine conservation and why she is passionate about protecting marine life.

Tell us about your journey into marine conservation!

"I started fundraising for nature and wildlife when I was very young, but it is only been in the last few years that I have become more interested in the marine side of things, fundraising for Skomer. I am part of the Cardigan Bay Marine Youth Forum which is really fun and we learn a lot about the sea and the amazing wildlife in it. If I were to work in marine conservation, I would like to be a marine biologist, exploring the functions and lifestyles of marine species."

Tell us about your #WILDFundraiser!

"Fundraising for The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales has been amazing. Every year I raise money for Skomer Island. My favourite day fundraising was meeting my role model Iolo Williams, that was really cool. I have also really enjoyed visiting Skomer Island because of the amazing sites and the opportunity to see my favourite seabird up close, it also feels really good to help our wildlife."

What's your favourite marine species?

"My favourite marine species is puffins, because of their amazing colours and character. They also live on my favourite island Skomer, which I raise money for every year. Also puffins are cute."

Why are you passionate about protecting our seas?

"I am passionate about protecting our oceans and their inhabitants, because they are vital for a happy future, I don’t understand why people would want to hurt and damage our seas, because they are full of the most amazing species. The oceans also take up most of our world, so it’s important, we protect our planet."
