The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales are calling for at least 30% of our land and sea to be connected and protected for nature’s recovery by 2030.
Making more space for nature to become abundant once again will give our struggling wildlife the chance to recover and also restore beautiful wild places - places that store carbon and help to tackle the climate crisis.
30% is the bare minimum that nature needs to start recovering but we are far short of this and need everyone's help to ensure we turn this around.
Our #WILDFundraiser campaign is a fantastic way for anyone to be a part of the solution and drive change in their local areas, as well as contribute towards our invaluable conservation work.
Madison has raised nearly £900 for the campaign so far, here's what she had to say...
Madison said: "Biodiversity is declining at an alarming rate and our natural world is in real trouble. These next years are crucial in nature’s recovery and we must support as many efforts as possible to not only highlight the urgent need for action, but to put it at the forefront of decision making.
I decided to fundraise for The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales to show that there are many ways we can help as individuals, groups and businesses, to raise awareness of the biodiversity and climate crisis whilst at the same time putting it at the heart of our own decisions.
The 30x30 campaign calls urgent action and aims to make space for nature to thrive again and give struggling wildlife the chance to recover. We need #MoreWILD.
The Afan Half Marathon is known for its challenging route through the valley's, with lost of inclines. But because I am passionate about nature's recovery and contributing to the fantastic work of the Trust, I was able to enjoy the race and actually complete it in a great time!"
