About the event

Increasing the amount of native Welsh plants in our gardens and public spaces is probably the single most important action any of us can take to reverse the declines we’ve seen in our wildlife over the last 50 years.

Barry Stewart is one of the most knowledgeable conservationists in South Wales. He's an expert on plants, moths, birds, bees and much more, as well as the official plant recorder for the region.

He and his wife Sandra set up Celtic Wildflowers to promote the use of native Welsh plants and therefore wildlife conservation in our area. They have been involved in re-planting projects with various organisations including the National Botanic Garden of Wales and we are very lucky to have been offered a dedicated visit for our group. They will show us around, talk about the conservation work they’ve been doing and the benefits of planting local wild flowers. The Llys Nini coffee shop will be open afterwards.

Much of the nursery is outdoors and the ground is uneven, so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear in case of damp weather.
The nursery is located at Llys Nini next to the RSPCA centre. Directions here: https://www.rspca-llysnini.org.uk/visit-us/
