At Drostre access to the reserve has been improved by resurfacing the entrance track. New benches provide the opportunity for visitors to enjoy the view of the Black Mountains or to rest within the woodland for a more immersive experience. A new updated interpretation panel provides a map of the reserve and photos of the key species that visitors may encounter. 

The work completed at Drostre Wood is one of many infrastructure and biodiversity improvements being carried out in the Montgomery and Monmouthshire and Brecon canals corridor in Powys, as part of the Canals, Communities and Wellbeing project. Running until May 2023, the project is a partnership between Powys County Council, Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, Glandŵr Cymru, Canal & River Trust in Wales and the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority. Project outputs include towpath improvements, and projects across several partners.

Cae Eglwys, a small flower rich meadow up a rough track north of Brecon, is a difficult reserve to get to and the entrance had caused problems for some time when taking the water bowser up to the reserve. Thanks to Green Connections funding we have installed a new gate so that we no longer have to reverse in!
