This work was undertaken by Salix, a company specialising in wetland solutions. Good weather and the right people made this project happen very quickly and successfully.
Channels which had silted up were also cleaned and further areas of open water created. These will in turn provide fantastic habitats for a variety of wildlife and aquatic plants.
The next stage of the project is the installation of a 500m long boardwalk which will pass by the newly created pool and have a viewing platform and interpretation.
Work on this should start towards the end of February with the aim to complete by the end of March. The reserve will then be open to visitors again after being shut for nearly 5 years.
